MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT SHOT TO DEATH IN THE CENTRAL REGION

A Member of Parliament (MP) has been shot to death on his way from a campaign trip ahead of the 2020 general elections.

The deceased, Hon. Ekow Kwansah Hayford was the MP for Mfanstiman Constituency in the Central Region of Ghana.  He joined the legislature in 2016.  

According to reports, the shooters deemed to be armed robbers attacked the MP at Abankrom on the Abeaze-Dominase to Mankessim road.

An eye witness, Emmanuel Badu confirmed to TIME FM that the sad encounter occurred at dawn with the armed robbers shooting the MP's vehicle through the drivers' side.

The driver, still alive, was sent to Saltpond Hospital with the deceased body of Hon. Ekow Hayford.

The robbers held them for 3 hours even after the shooting incident. This delay is believed to have led to his death.
